Russia’s Cherkizovo may buy Altai Broiler from Prioskolie group

MOSCOW, Jul 16 (PRIME) -- Russian meat producer Cherkizovo Group plans to acquire poultry producer Altai Broiler from a group of agricultural companies Prioskolie, Cherkizovo said in a statement on Monday.

“The Cherkizovo Group has signed a letter of intent to buy Altai Broiler from Prioskolie company…The supposed purchase fully lies within the group’s development strategy,” Cherkizovo said.

Altai Broiler produced about 67,000 tonnes of poultry in live weight in 2017. The purchase of the company would allow Cherkizovo to enter the market of the Siberian region, and raise Cherkizovo’s share on the market of national poultry producers to 12%, the company said.
